FZS pumps

Single-stage submersible pumps installed in column pipes

Applications

Pumps FZS type are single-stage pumping units in monoblock arrangement driven by three phase electric motors assembled on the common shaft.
Pumps are installed in column pipes.

FZS pumps are designed for pumping clean, raw, river, sea, technological or slightly contaminated water with temperatures up to 40oC, in the range of the resistance of materials used for their construction.

  • boundary water intakes,
  • irrigation systems,
  • water cooling systems,
  • flood control pumping stations,
  • industrial, pressure boosting, firefighting installations,
  • installations for drinking and municipal water

TECHNICAL DATA

  • Capacity (Q): up to 4300 m3/h
  • Delivery head (H): up to 36,5 m
  • Rotation speed: up to 1500 r.p.m.
  • The maximum temperature of the pumped liquid (t): up to +40oC
  • The size of pipe shaft (s): up to DN1000

Design and operation principles of radial inlet pumps

The impeller (1) is built on the shaft (5), which is supported on two rolling bearings. On the shaft between bearings the rotor of electric drive motor is placed (14). The lower bearing (8) transfers the axial and radial force and it is settled in the bottom bearing housing (9). Upper bearing (6) transfers exclusively radial force and it is built in the upper bearing housing (7). Bearing housings are connected to the motor housings (11 and 12) and together with electric motor windings (4) they form drive unit. To the upper bearing housing (7) the upper casing is mounted (13), in which there are power and signal cables connections. Cables are led through the cable glands which insure IP68 protection degree for electric motor. The impeller of the pump (1) draws in the liquid through the inlet diffusor (2) and then pumps it to the vane stator (3).Then the liquid flows around electric motor housings ensuring its proper cooling. The pump is mounted in the column pipe which ensures appropriate flow around the electric motor and enables the drainage of the liquid to the installation. The working part of the pump is separated from the motor through the oil chamber (10). In the chamber the mechanical seal (16) is built in which separates the chamber from dry part of electric motor. Between the oil chamber and pump impeller there is a second mechanical seal (16) which separates oil chamber from the pumped medium. Due to natural leakage of the liquid through mechanical seal and necessity of protection of electric motor from flooding in case of failure of both mechanical seals, between the oil chamber and lower bearing housing there is built in the leachate chamber (17) in which the liquid from the seal can be gathered. There is the sensor indicating the high level of the leachate or sealing failure in this chamber.

Design

Pump FZS type is a centrifugal pump equipped with centrifugal or diagonal flow impeller cooperating with vane casing.
  • Single-stage submersible pump for column pipe installation
  • Modular design.
  • The pump in vertical arrangement.
  • Asynchronous three-phase drive, protected by PTC sensors and humidity sensors of the dry chamber of the motor. Optional sensors Pt100 of the electric motor temperature and Pt100 temperature of the bearings.
  • Two mechanical seals the oil chamber and leakage chamber, in which there is the moisture sensor.
  • Closed diagonal impeller.

Protections, sensors

Pump is equipped with sensors, which protect against hazards and pump damage. Adequate measurement converters are necessary for analysis of signals from sensors.

All sensors are located inside pump and they are connected to the clamping conduit.
Position Sensor
1 Leakage in motor (winding and connections chamber)
2 Bearing temperature (upper bearing)
3 Bearing temperature (bottom bearing)
4 Leakage from mechanical seal
5 Vibrations converter
6 Motor temperature (PTC)
7 Motor temperature (PT100)

Examplary installation

The pump chamber and the column pipe should be executed and installed in accordance with the documentation and good engineering practice.

For column pipes longer than 4 m, it is required fixing the column pipe to the wall chambers with using of special anchoring holders.

Pumping unit is ready for correct operation if level of pumped liquid in the water intake chamber has reached at least minimum level.

Drop of liquid level below HWmin minimum value is not permissible. It may lead to pump damage due to cavitation and turbulences of sucked air.

Dry-running of the pump is forbidden.

Anchorage of column pipe in chamber

For column pipes exceeding 4m of length, mounting of column pipe to chamber walls is required. Column pipe should be equipped with special seats where screw with lug should be screwed in. Special anchoring handles should be installed on concrete tank walls. Between screw and anchoring handle the turnbuckle connecting column pipe with anchoring element should be installed.
