Hydro-Vacuum S.A. strengthens cooperation with the Bialystok University of Technology

Joint activities in the field of teaching, research, and pump technology development In the second half of November, representatives of Hydro-Vacuum S.A. visited the Bialystok University of Technology, carrying out further actions to enhance cooperation between our pump factory and one of the key technical universities in the country. The visit included both expert lectures for students and discussions regarding further development of joint research and development projects. Specialist lecture: “Pumps and Pump Systems” On November 20, MSc Eng. Natalia Kaszubowska, Head of the Project Team in the Research and Development Department of Hydro-Vacuum S.A., delivered a lecture titled “Pumps and Pump Systems” for students of the Environmental Engineering and Thermal Energy programs.

During the lecture, students learned about:

• the principles of pump operation and selection,
• designs of pumping systems,
• operational challenges in the water and wastewater sector,
• directions in the development of modern pumping solutions.

At the end, a knowledge competition was organized, in which the best-performing students received prizes funded by Hydro-Vacuum S.A. As emphasized by Dr Eng. Maria Walery, Prof. BUT, the event significantly enriched the teaching process and provided students with practical knowledge directly from the industry. Cooperation between science and business – joint projects and perspectives The visit also included discussions on expanding cooperation between the Bialystok University of Technology and Hydro-Vacuum S.A., a leader in pump production in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe, whose origins date back to 1862.

The cooperation will include, among others:

• specialist lectures, workshops, and seminars,
• topics for master’s and engineering theses,
• internships and industrial PhD programs carried out at the factory,
• joint R&D projects and participation in scientific grants,
• study visits for students to Hydro-Vacuum S.A. production facilities.

As emphasized by Mariusz Simiński, Management Board Member and Sales Director of Hydro-Vacuum S.A., cooperation with technical universities is a strategic element of the company’s development: “Engineers are in short supply on the market, which is why we actively promote technical fields and cooperate with universities across Poland. Combining science with industry brings enormous value — both for students and for our sector.” Hydro-Vacuum S.A. has one of the largest R&D departments in Poland in the pump industry — nearly 40 specialists working on new designs, modernizations, and innovative solutions for the water-wastewater, industrial, and energy sectors. A shared direction: developing competencies and innovation The company offers the university a broad cooperation package — from lectures and engineering projects to industrial PhD programs. Classes conducted directly at the factory are also planned, allowing students to see the pump design and manufacturing process from the ground up.

As summarized by Mariusz Simiński:
“We want to show students how fascinating and important the profession of pump designer is. We hope that through this cooperation we will attract new, ambitious engineers who will help create our products in the future.”
